Italiannies @ The Curve, Mutiara Damansara
I would normally never go to an Italian restaurant in Asia, especially since our Italian food is so good and authentic in Australia. However, we followed Esther to Italiannies because she said it was good the last time she went.
Italiannies is really popular with the locals – and you can tell by how long you have to wait in the queue. Although we were told that we would have to wait almost 1 hour to be seated, we only waited for about 30 minutes before we were able to get a table.
While we were in the queue and getting more and more hungry as time went on, we had a look at the menu and figured out what we wanted to eat so the Wait Staff could rush it out to us. Smart thinking eh?
We ordered the ‘Dinner-sized’ Caesar Salad (RM$19.90), Pepperoni Pizza (RM$30.90), and a refillable Sprite (RM$5.80) to share amongst the 3 of us. They also provided us with a free entrée of bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
The Caesar Salad was really weird because they sprinkled loads of pepper in the salad dressing. I guess they tried to cater the taste of the salad dressing to the local Malaysians, but the massive amount of pepper in the salad was just plain weird.

The Pepperoni Pizza was really average too. However, what I did appreciate was that the pizza base was like biting into a thin and soft cloud. Dominos should take a lesson from Italiannies’s dough maker(s) – I want thin and biting into a cloud-like pizza base, not a thin and too burnt and crispy pizza!

Esther said that she was very disappointed as it used to be like the real thing and much cheaper than it was a year ago. Well, at least the pizza base was nice! With the slogan, “We cook more than we eat” painted on their walls, I wondered if the Cooks actually know how bad their food is…

Ph: 603-7728 1715 – if you really want to eat here, I suggest you book. I’m positive there are better Italian restaurants out there as I remember reading an expat forum there is actually good Italian and French food just like ‘home’ somewhere in KL.
