Tony Roma’s – Round 2 – Cineleisure Damansara
Craving for more Tony Roma’s, we decided to go for a second try – but this time at Cineleisure Damansara.
The dining experience reminded me of our recent Italiannies experience:
1) We had to wait about an hour or so to be seated
2) The food and service was awful
Seriously, it was totally pathetic. The Waiter assigned to our section was both rude and really inattentive. We also didn’t get our complimentary bread like the week before at The Gardens in Mid Valley. We thought maybe they had just run out of bread or it was a special or something – but later on we actually saw the other tables getting the free bread rolls for their entrĂ©e. Not cool.

We ordered the Onion Loaf, which is a ‘signature item’ on the Tony Roma’s menu around the world. It’s not really a loaf, it’s more of onion rings stacked together to make a tower. It tasted like a tower of dryness – absolutely not something you’d want known as your speciality!

The Fried Mushrooms were rather nice at first before it just tasted too blah from the oiliness.
We also had a Caesar Salad that was worse than the one at Italiannies, if that’s even possible. :S
I also felt sorry for our fellow diners. I winced when I saw a plate of food going to the table next to us that you could spot was overcooked just by the colour of it. Yes. A very, very dark brown. I don’t know if they got away with serving the dish like that, but the Cook/Chef should know better than to serve food like that.
The only redeeming quality was that Esther and FT’s fruit drinks were really nice. I never ever received the water that I asked for numerous times though.
Esther later told me that she read a forum where other people complained about the food and service at this particular outlet. I wish we had read it before we ate there. Tony Roma’s Cineleisure should definitely pick up their game since this is apparently not a once-off affair.
Final Score: A miserable 1/10. Eat Tony Roma’s elsewhere, or head to The Ship.
The winner for the best Tony Roma’s in the Petaling Jaya-ish area is…. Tony Roma’s Mid-Valley/The Gardens by a whopping 7 points! Congratulations!

Oh dear…I am impressed with your patience though, I would have walked away (and probably complained loudly) after waiting more than 15min to be seated!
There’s a Tony Roma in Perth now (http://www.tonyromas-mms.com/en/index.php?q=perth) so maybe check them out and compare. It’s supposed to be the only TR which doesn’t have the usual coyboy theme, it’s more contemporary, but the menu is exactly the same.
Thanks Christine. I think everywhere else had a big line as well. Maybe we should’ve stuck to Little Penang Kafe though!
Yes, I know about the Tony Roma’s in the city. My cousin has been there one friday for dinner and she said the food was pretty blah, but she’s not sure whether it was because it was pretty busy. I guess we’ll have to investigate. Want to come investigate with me?
