Yo! (It’s Terrible) Sushi at Mid Valley/The Gardens
After having too many visits at Sushi King as part of my ‘health regime’, we decided to try a brand new, trendy looking sushi restaurant called Yo! Sushi. For those who judge eateries by the way it looks, please don’t let the covers of this joint or your natural-born curiosity to try out new places fool you. You’ll read the plot of the book, and it will scream “AWFUL!” to you.
Yo! Sushi is a restaurant similar to Sushi King in the sense that it serves kaiten sushi – sushi that revolves on a conveyer belt and has a-la-carte dishes as well. The only different is that the look is much more sleek with a more polished finish than Sushi King’s wooden and natural look.

The a-la-carte and sushi menu is divided into colours where each colour represents a different price. What we didn’t realise or was specifically stated was that GST was not included. Also, we thought ordering from the a-la-carte menu would be ok because it usually means a proper-sized meal… in most normal Japanese restaurants in KL anyway. :p
We ordered 6 dishes plus green tea for 3 from both the conveyor belt and a-la-carte menu. Amongst the dishes we picked out were:

Tuna sushi – I didn’t eat this but my friends reported that they didn’t really like it.

Prawn Tempura

I ordered the Takoyaki, which was actually alright, but I would’ve preferred the bonito moving about in the air just like at Yuki’s in Willetton instead of on the side.

Chicken Katsu Curry – FT had this. Don’t get her started on it, she’ll go on for a while about how bland and awful it was!
Guess how much that all cost? $93.15!! *faints* What an absolute rip off!
It really is a hefty cost when you consider paying high prices for not very nice food at all. Unfortunately, this particular outlet of Yo! Sushi isn’t the only bad one – I’ve just read that the Yo! Sushi shops in the UK apparently have a reputation of being mediocre. By the looks of things, they truly deserve that reputation if this particular experience is anything to go by.
Or in another person’s words who so harshly yet honestly described it as having small yet expensive portions, and only tasty if you are devoid of tastebuds – avoid at all costs.

Yo! Sushi restaurant is better for menus, but the cost is little more.
The menu looks awesome.
Thanks for sharing.

You’re welcome, Janet. I think half the items we had were from the menu, and those are the ones which I posted up there.
Yo! Sushi is sadly terrible! I read that the owner of Yo! Sushi is going to open up Yo! Hotels… if this Yo! Sushi is anything to go by, I’m not sure whether I’d want to stay in Yo! Hotels!
